WOMEN-OWNED BUSINESS NOW
FLOURISHES WITH NEW AIR FORCE FEDERAL CONTRACT AWARD
Tampa , FL. - August 1, 2006, Five years ago Cheryl Stockstad was at a proverbial crossroads. Ms. Stockstad had to make a choice. Should she continuing working and traveling for someone else - a stressful proposition in post 9/11 air travel conditions - or start her own business.
Armed with the required licenses for international freight forwarding and brokerage - very rare for a woman - and 25 years of experience in global trade, Ms. Stockstad had an opportunity consult for an American top 100 fortune company. Thus LimitLess International, Inc. was founded realizing Cheryl's limitless opportunities.
Her goal was to build a global organization through federal government contracts aimed at supporting small businesses. In May 2002, LimitLess was certified as an 8(a) SDB Corporation and started pursuing the first contract as a recognized prime contractor. In 2002, Limitless revenues barely topped $250,000. With the help of a 2005 SBA loan and long work weeks, Cheryl had grown LimitLess into a $1.5M company. In less than 5 years, LimitLess had indeed worked as a prime contractor while developing a network of over 1,200 global agents to support client shipping needs.
In the early part of, LimitLess took a significant downsizing after losing a major contract. Resilient to the core, Ms. Stockstad looked for resources to help support a turnaround. She called upon the Small Business Development Center at UCF. Introduced to Program Manager Carrie Duvall, the Advisory Board COuncil assisted Limitless in forming an advisory board. LimitLess' four-member, all volunteer board worked for several months to create an action plan. Particularly helpful, Lee Evans of Orlando was instrumental in helping Cheryl strengthen an existing relationship with MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL.
In August 2006, LimitLess was awarded a multi-million dollar packing & crating contract at MacDill AFB Tampa, Florida. Now five years later they have also expanded our operation providing import/export and warehousing services at the Port of Tampa.
Limitless has relocated to Tampa to better serve her clients and to be closer to the Port of Tampa. Ms. Stockstad sees only growth opportunities ahead.
"Challenges and risks are all part of owning a business and consider sleepless nights as part of your job description if you are going to be successful.", offers Cheryl. Her advice to anyone wanting to start their own business and seek government contracts is to not let the challenges keep them from achieving their dreams. "The system really does work for those who don't give up!"
